Recruitment fraud

Our online recruitment process negates fraudulent activity.

Recruitment fraud, which is becoming increasingly sophisticated, is a real concern and involves scammers offering fake job opportunities for money or personal information.

We never ask for money in exchange for a job interview. All our vacancies are advertised through a formal online recruitment process, with each listing providing a unique job reference ID for tracking purposes.

Whether the request is made via email, text, telephonically or in person, you will know it is fraudulent if:

  • You are asked for money (we never do this) or personal details such as your passport, ID or bank details, often at an early stage.
  • You are asked to provide your bank details before we have made you a job offer. We do not do this either.
  • The email address is different to this format: name.lastname@thungela.com. Emails are from free web-based email accounts such as Yahoo, Gmail or Live.com.
  • People use cellphone numbers, rather than office telephone numbers.
  • There is a guarantee of a job placement.
  • It comes out of the blue. We only offer jobs following a formal application and selection process through approved email and telephonic communications, including face-to-face interviews.
  • They insist on urgency from the start.
  • Any documentation is poorly formatted with spelling and grammatical errors.
  • Documents contain outdated branding and logos

If you receive a suspicious email, or want to find out more, email thungela@tip-offs.com or call +27 (0) 11 638 9300.

We recommend that you do not respond to unsolicited offers of employment or those seeking information from people claiming to work for or be associated with us.

  • Contact us at Thungela@tip-offs.com to either report fraudulent activity or verify whether the
