Sisonke Employee Empowerment Scheme

The Sisonke Employee Empowerment Scheme owns 5% of Thungela's South Africa Coal Operations (SACO) Proprietary Limited and is entitled to receive 5% of the dividends paid out. Benefits after taxes and other expenses are shared equally among eligible employees.

More than 3,400 employees belong to the scheme which was established as one of the ways we deliver on our purpose: to responsibly create value together for a shared future. It also serves to entrench an 'owner's mindset' as beneficiaries have a vested interest in our business's success.
